In 1973, LaMay notched the first championship of his career as an owner/driver in the Late Model division at Mount Clemens Race Track in Mount Clemens, Michigan. His championship titles spanned to 1988, when he won the ARCA championship as crew chief of the No. 72 Tracy Leslie car.

“These are two pages from my book, 60 Years of Auto Racing. In addition, in 2018, I was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. After my driving career, I was able to work for AJ Foyt! Then, a 25-year career in NASCAR, working for Tex Racing and G-Force Transmission! Thanks again for the opportunity to talk at the banquet.”
